VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are a vital part of the ultra-running community in Slovakia. Mountain ultramarathons and long-distance endurance walks are made possible largely thanks to the selfless assistance of numerous people from across the country. If you would like to join our "Letecká stovka" team—which comprises over 70 people each year—and experience this event alongside the runners and walkers, please let us know via the form HERE. For further information, feel free to contact us at leteckadobrosi@gmail.com. The form contains details on where, when, and how you can get involved. We sincerely appreciate any help!
Volunteer roles at registration and the start line:
Participant registration (checking in participants, verifying mandatory gear, and distributing race packs and bib numbers) takes place on Friday evening from 18:00 to 22:00. We recommend arriving 30 minutes early to familiarize yourself with your assigned tasks. On Saturday morning, registration will take place at the same location from 05:00 to 06:40. Again, it is recommended to arrive at your assigned station at least 30 minutes before registration begins. The race starts in Trenčín at the "ARENA Ostrov" building (involving start coordination, communication support, and the handling and organization of drop bags). Preparing stations and the storage area:
Preparation takes place in the start/finish support area. This involves logistical tasks such as correctly distributing all materials to specific stations according to a checklist and loading them into a van. Preparation usually begins on the Friday before the race, typically between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM. This work is physically demanding.
Course marking:
This is usually done the week before the event. The course is divided into several sections. Markers must be briefed on marking procedures by our lead course marshal. Marking the course is one of the most demanding tasks and requires a significant amount of time; please plan for a full day's work, from morning until evening.
Aid station / checkpoint volunteer:
Aid stations offering drinks—or drinks and food—will be positioned along the route. These locations will also serve as checkpoints, primarily involving recording times via an electronic timing app or on paper.
Finish line volunteer:
Preparing the finish area, recording data, filling out certificates, participant services (serving soup and preparing refreshments), assisting and providing information to participants, packing up event materials, cleanup, etc. Course Marshal:
Guides runners at complex intersections and ensures safe course crossings over busy roads.
Sweep Team:
Follows at the rear of the field of participants, collects course markers, and monitors the participants in case of emergencies.
